Match 28 of 48 in the 2023 Cricket World Cup will see the Netherlands taking on Bangladesh on Saturday morning. Both sides are on two points after five matches, but the Dutch are at the bottom of the standings due to their net run rate, while The Tigers are in eighth place. The Netherlands come into this match following their biggest loss in the tournament, beaten by a massive 309 runs by Australia. The Aussies set a target of 399/8, but the Dutch were only able to notch up 90 runs before they were bowled out in 21 overs. That result followed a five-wicket loss to Sri Lanka. However, the plucky Netherlands side have played much better than their record suggests. They caused the upset of the tournament so far when they beat South Africa by 38 runs in their third match of the competition. Their strength has come from their bowlers, with Bas de Leede and Logan van Beek both ranked in the top 15 wicket-takers in the tournament so far. These two sides have played only two ODI matches in the past, and the Dutch won the last one by six wickets. 

Meanwhile, Bangladesh made the perfect start to their 2023 CWC campaign by claiming a six-wicket victory over Afghanistan in their first match. However, they were unable to keep their momentum going, losing to England by 137 runs in their second fixture. Since then, The Tigers have not been given much of a chance to shine, with New Zealand, India, and South Africa all claiming convincing wins over them. Against the Proteas last week, Mahmudullah was the standout performer for the Bangladeshis, scoring 111 runs in as many balls. Still, his side were beaten by 149 runs, with no other batsman managing a score of more than a mere 22. Star player Shakib Al Hasan has also failed to fire since the first match of the competition. Notably, no Bangladeshi player currently features in the top 15 with bat or ball in this competition to date. Still, The Tigers do have the more experienced players and are ranked five places above this opponent, which sees them come into this match as the favourites.
