These sides are at opposite ends of the table, with the hosts in second place while the visitors are second-bottom. India are on the cusp of securing a knockout spot, and one more win should be enough to see them through. The Men in Blue are the only side that are still unbeaten in the competition, with five straight wins so far. They beat Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh earlier in the competition before claiming a historic win over New Zealand last week. That was the first time India beat the Kiwis in an ODI World Cup match in 20 years. Virat Kohli relishes the big stage and has once again been exceptional in this tournament. He has already notched up 354 runs at an average of 118 and is ranked third in the top run-scorer standings. Jasprit Bumrah has been the main contributor with the ball, taking 11 wickets in the competition to date. He is also ranked third in the leading wicket-takers race. The hosts are the clear favourites in this match. 

Meanwhile, England’s title defence is almost over. A loss here will guarantee that they cannot reach the knockout stages, while winning their remaining matches may still not be enough. The Three Lions are on two points after five games and are only above the bottom side due to a marginally better net run rate. They went into their first match of the competition as favourites and were easily beaten by New Zealand but did bounce back against Bangladesh a few days later. However, since then, their performances have been very poor, suffering consecutive losses to Afghanistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. The normally explosive batting order of England has misfired in the subcontinent, and with the exception of Reece Topley, their bowling attack has been noticeably tame. However, while qualification may seem unlikely, the visitors will love nothing more than to get one over the Men in Blue and will likely throw caution to the wind in this match.
