England Sri Lanka Predictions & Betting tips - ICC Men's Cricket World Cup
by Sridhar |
Stuck in the bottom-half of the table and to the last two spots, England and Sri Lanka will look for a way up the ladder. They will play in match #25 of the ICC ODI World Cup at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday. England are bottom of the table with two points while Sri Lanka are just above them with a slightly better run rate. England were one of the pre-tournament favorites to reach the sowing but have looked far away from justifying that tag. They won just a single match, against Bangladesh. That aside, losses to New Zealand, Afghanistan and South Africa have deflated them. The Three Lions do not have a single batter aggregating more than 192 runs, and that tells the story. The team balance is also a concern with Ben Stokes playing as a pure batter and their all-rounders Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali struggling for impact.
Sri Lanka have a bunch of struggles of their own, although they halted a three-game losing streak with a win last time out. That came against the Netherlands and the Islanders heaved a sigh of relief escaping an upset. The batting is slightly better than that of England with Sadeera Samarawickrama and Kusal Mendis aggregating 200+ runs. The problem is that their over-dependence on these players is hampering their cause, as the rest of the batters keep struggling. With the ball, it is a total Dilshan Madhushanka show (11 wickets) but with not much support at the other end, questions remain over their ability to step up against England.
