Third seed Hubert Hurkacz takes on fifth seeded Ugo Humbert for a place in the Dubai Tennis Championships semi-final. The winner will face either top seed and defending champion Daniil Medvedev or eighth seeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Hurkacz was ranked eighth at the start of this outdoor hard court tournament. He remains in that position in the live rankings. Hurkacz will be out for revenge on his opponent after being beaten by Humbert in the semi-finals of this year's Marseille indoor hard court event. He'd won the previous three matches the pair have played  That includes a win for Hurkacz in the 2024 Australian Open. To get to this quarter final, he's beaten Jan-Lennard Struff in three sets (all tie-breaks) and Christopher O'Connell in two.

Ugo Humbert went on to win the title in Marseille but then only won one of his next three matches. He did get to this stage in Doha last week but had to win one match to do so. That was against unseeded Pavel Kotov and he then lost to veteran Gael Monfils. Humbert is a career high 18th at present and got revenge on Monfils in the first round of this ATP 500 tournament but needed three sets to do so. He then beat Andy Murray for the loss of only six games. This looks like being a tight match and we go for over 22.5 games to be played.
