Third seed Daniil Medvedev bids to reach the Australian Open semi-finals for the third time. He takes on ninth seeded Hubert Hurkacz in the last eight with the winner up against either Carlos Alcaraz or Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals. Medvedev has twice made it to the final of this hard court Grand Slam with successive appearances in 2021 and 2022. Winning his first Australian Open can see him return to the top of the world rankings. He's not had the easiest of runs to this quarter final. The Russian has lost the first set of his match on two occasions. In the last 16, he beat unseeded Nuno Borges in four sets but it was the third one that he failed to win.

Hubert Hurkacz has only ever made it to one Grand Slam semi-final. That was on grass at Wimbledon but his best run in the Australian Open was the fourth round until this year. He's ranked a career high eighth in the live rankings and a win over Medvedev will take him up to seventh. In the live rankings he's currently third after a good run of three wins out of five in the United Cup and now this Australian Open quarter final. The 26-year-old had a few problems in round two and needed to go to five sets to get past qualifier Jakub Menask. Ugo Humbert took him to a fourth set but fellow French player Arthur Cazaux was beaten in straight sets in round four. He's 3-2 up in previous matches against Medvedev but two of those wins have come at Wimbledon. We tip Medvedev to get the win here.
