Ninth seed Alex De Minaur continues with his BNP Paribas Open campaign with a match against Hubert Hurkacz. The two will face off in the third round, marking their third meeting in history. We have the prediction below with the winner setting up a clash against Botic van de Zandschulp or Francisco Cerundolo.

De Minaur rose to the occasion well in his 2025 Indian Wells opener, beating David Goffin in straight sets. It was just the response he needed after a first round exit in Dubai soured his earlier deep runs.

In three events before Dubai he had reached at least the quarters. Having at best reached the last 16 at Indian Wells, he will now aim at a first quarter-final appearance here.

Hurkacz is a two-time Indian Wells quarter-finalist and will hope to rediscover that form. He graced the last eight here in 2019 and 2021.

In the second round, Hurkacz defeated world number 93 Hugo Gaston and should be braced for a tougher outing. With his season highlight being the semis at Rotterdam, he has the belief going into this match.

Hurkacz’s only win in previous meetings with De Minaur came at a Masters event, in Madrid, and he will be targeting a repeat. However, his loss in this series was on a hardcourt.
