Denmark take on Hungary in the Main Round of the Women's European Handball Championships. It's a game that the Danes need to win to maintain theiir hopes of securing a top two finiish and making it into the semi-finals. They are currently third in the group with two points. That puts them behind Sweden and two adrift of leaders Norway. Denmark finished second in their preliminary round group with two wins and a defeat. Their campaign got off to a slow start with a 28-26 defeat by Slovenia. They fought back well though to get wins over Serbia and Sweden with Emma Friis scoring nine goals in the latter match. The Danes will be looking to build on their third pace in the world championships last year.
Hungary are bottom of this group without a single point bought forward from the preliminary round. A win here is therefore a necessity for the Hungarians. They finished third in their preliminary round group winning only one of their three matches. The Hungarians started well with a 33-28 win over Switzerland but then lost to Croatia and Norway. They reached the quarter finals in the Olympics last year but only 10th in the world championships and filled the same position in the 2020 European Championships. Go for over 52.5 goals to be scored in this match.
