Hugo Gaston will take on fellow unseeded player Roberto Bautista Agut in the semi-finals of the 2024 European Open. This match on Saturday will mark their first career meeting. Below is a prediction for this match.

Hugo Gaston has been a different player in Antwerp and emerges as a key favorite to progress the final. The Frenchman had lost seven straight matches before he arrived in Antwerp.

Now he is on a three-match winning run and is just two wins away from his maiden tour title. A finalist in Kitzbuhel earlier in the year, Gaston has improved his record to 30-28.

He needed a decider for the third time in the tournament to beat top seed Alex de Minaur. Defeating the former Antwerp finalist has moved Gaston four places up in the live ranking to 73rd.

Roberto Bautista Agut is also coming off a big win that will for sure build his confidence. The Spaniard battled through three sets to eliminate former Antwerp champion Felix Auger-Aliassime.

He rose from a set down to claim his 34th victory of the season. Bautista Agut had won his opening two fixtures here without dropping a set. Of his wins, six came in eight outings on indoor hard courts.

The 36-year-old has been in fine form in recent weeks. He currently has eight wins in his last 10 matches, which has allowed him to move eight places in the live ranking. The 11-time tour champion is now placed 52nd in the live ranking.

The winner here will play one of Marcos Giron, Zizou Bergs, Jiri Lehecka or Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.
