Unseeded Bernabe Zapata Miralles and qualifier Hugo Dellien will on Tuesday meet in the first round at the Swedish Open. Hugo Dellien is through to the main draw here for the first time in what is his second appearance at the tournament. He defeated Luca Nardi and Timofey Skatov, players all ranked higher than him, in the qualifiers. In both matches, the Bolivian was forced to relinquish the second set. Dellien’s best moments this season have again come on the clay court where all 18 of his victories have come. This form allowed him to win the Santiago Challenger for a third time. Dellien, who reached his maiden tour semifinal in Cordoba, is now up nine places to 158th in the live ranking.

Bernabe Zapata Miralles has also had his most success so far this season on clay. The Spaniard has played 38 matches in 2023 and every single one of his 19 victories has come on the surface. He arrives in Bastad after losing in the final in Lasi in the challenger circuit. This was his first final of the season and he will hope to build on this as he continues to take charge of his campaign. Before playing in Lasi, Miralles had lost more matches than he had won. His record for the year is now tied at 19-19. Miralles is now up one place to 52nd in the live ranking. The winner of this match will play either sixth seed Tomas Etcheverry or Sebastian Ofner in the second round.
