Second seed Novak Djokovic is edging closer to defending his Wimbledon crown; on Sunday he’ll face 17th seed Hubert Hurkacz. The winner of this fourth-round tie will next play either seventh-seed Andrey Rublev or 23rd-seed Alexander Bublik. Hurkacz is through to the fourth round for the second time here. The last time he managed to go this far, he got to the semifinals, in 2021. The Pole has been in fine form at the All England Club, winning all three rounds without dropping a set. He will hope this form continues as he seeks to win his first match against Djokovic. Hurkacz and Djokovic have played each other five times before and the latter has been victorious every single time. In his last match, Hurkacz defeated Lorenzo Musetti for his sixth win in eight outings on grass this season. He is now up one spot to 17th in the live ranking.

Novak Djokovic has also won his three matches at this year’s major without dropping a set. He defeated longtime rival Stan Wawrinka in the previous round. The world number two is seeking a record-tying fifth straight Wimbledon title. If he manages this feat, he will also become the joint most successful men’s player here with eight titles. Djokovic has faced a belligerent atmosphere at the All England Club with many rooting for his opponents. This however hasn’t stopped him from extending his dominance on grass. The Serb hasn’t lost a match on grass since 2018 and is now on a 24-match unbeaten run on the surface. One of those victories was against Hurkacz in the third round here back in 2019. Djokovic has won the first two Grand Slam titles of the year.
