AFC South winners Houston Texas host Indianapolis Colts, who were runners-up in that division in a wildcard match with the winners facing the New England Patriots in the Divisional Play-offs. Houston Texans finished the regular season with an 11-5 record just ahead of Indianapolis who ended on 10-6.  Those performances left Houston seeded third and Indianapolis sixth.  This play-off place probably wasn't on the minds of the Houston Texans when they lost the first three games of the season. They had to go to overtime in the next game to get their first win and that just happened to be away to the Indianapolis Colts. That victory was the first of a nine-match winning streak and it was ended by Indianapolis. Houston also lost to Philadelphia Eagles but only by two points and a win over Jacksonville Jaguars clinched the AFC South title for them, the fifth in their history.

Indianapolis Colts have reached the play-offs for the first time since 2014. Just like Houston, they made a poor start to the regular season and at one stage were 1-5 having lost four in a row. The next five matches were won before a 6-0 loss to Jacksonville Jaguars. They quickly got their form back though, winning their last four games to end 10-6 for the season. It's only the third time that a side who went 1-5 have made it through to the play-offs. Historically games between these two sides are close ones  The Colts have already won once at Houston this season and can win again.
