Game one in the American League Division Series sees the Houston Astros hosting the Seattle Mariners at Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston. The Astros cruised to the AL West crown, finishing with a regular season record of 106-56, while the Mariners had to battle it out with the Toronto Blue Jays in the Wild Card series for their spot in the ALDS. Seattle would eventually win that best-of-three series two games to zero to finally end their playoff drought and reach this stage for the first time since 2001. The Mariners finished as runners-up to the Astros in the AL West in the regular season with a record of 90-72.
