Houston Astros vs New York Mets Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB Spring Training
by Matthew Newman | in Baseball Predictions
Two teams with big goals this season will meet in spring training on Thursday with the 2-4 Houston Astros taking on the 3-1 New York Mets. The Astros picked up their second win of spring training on Wednesday with a 6-1 win over the Miami Marlins. The Marlins have looked pretty poor so far so there is not much to glean from that but they will take some confidence from the success. A loss to the Washington Nationals, shut out by the Detroit Tigers and a split squad loss to these Mets on the same day as being shut out by the St Louis Cardinals has not made for a happy time so far. They have not scored many runs and while they have also not had their main players taking the same at-bats as they would during the regular season, it is a poor start.
As mentioned, the Mets already have a win over the Astros to their credit this spring. That was only a split squad game for the Astros and this is a full squad so this is going to be a tougher task on paper. That said, the Mets have notched up wins over the Nationals, Miami Marlins and Cardinals over the last three days, outscoring their opponents 16-4 in the process. It has been on the mound that the Mets have looked best so far this spring and that is going to be the key to this game with the Astros struggling to put runs on the board.
