Second seed Pablo Carreno Busta takes on Holger Rune in the last eight of the Metz Open. Busta began the week ranked 16th in the world but down a place in the live rankings. The Spaniard is bidding to win a third title of the year. He's already had success in Hamburg and Marbella, both titles being won on clay. He can play well on other surfaces though and won the Bronze Medal at the Tokyo Olympics. The four Grand Slam events are over for the year and Busta's best performance was a fourth round in Paris. The last two Grand Slams both saw him suffer first round defeats, so he'll want a strong finish to this year. This week has seen him beat Mikhail Ymer in straight sets.

Holger Rune is the Danish number one and began this week ranked 133rd. His run to the last eight of this tournament has seen him climb up to 124th and he'll be in the top 120 if winning this match. Rune has been making good progress up the rankings this year, having started it in 473rd place and this time last year was 726th. The 18-year-old has spent a lot of the year on the ITF circuit, winning two titles and also three Challenger tournaments and is one to watch out for. He reached the first round of the US Open and took a set off Novak Djokovic in the first round. In Metz, the Dane has beaten Bernabe Zapata Moralles (without losing a game) and then came from a set down to beat fifth seeded Lorenzo Sonego. This is his first match against the Spaniard.
