Fourth seed Holger Rune has made it to the semi-finals in Basel once again and will take on unseeded Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. Read on for our prediction for this match set for Saturday afternoon.
Holger Rune is playing in Basel for the third successive time and has maintained his record of always reaching the last four. The Dane, who lost in the final in 2022, will now hope this is the year he claims the title.
Rune has been superb this week. He has won all his matches, three, without losing a set. To advance to this round, he eliminated lucky loser David Goffin. His 41st win of the season has moved him to 13th in the live ranking. This is Rune’s seventh semi of the year.
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard has progressed to only his second tour semi-final. He first achieved this feat in Lyon earlier in the season and went on to claim the title.
The young Frenchman, who is a superb indoor player, will hope to maintain this 100% record. Mpetshi Perricard has done his ranking a world of good this week. He arrived here having lost four successive matches.
Now he is on a three-match winning run and has moved up to 44th in the ATP. The 21-year-old clawed his way from a set down to defeat Denis Shapovalov in the quarters and earn his 45th win of the year.
The winner here will then play Ben Shelton or Arthur Fils in the final.
