Holger Rune has continued his great recent run. The world number 25 faces Ugo Humbert in the Swiss Indoor Championships second round. Rune is bidding to reach his third consecutive final. Last month saw him lose in the title decider played in Sofia and he then won the Stockholm tournament with wins over three players ranked higher than him. One of those beaten was Alex de Minaur and Rune repeated that victory in this tournament. He beat the seventh seed in straight sets losing just seven games. The winner of this match faces unseed Arthur Rinderkneck in the last eight. Rune is up to 23rd in the live rankings and can climb another place if beating Humbert. He's already booked his place in the NextGen finals.

Ugo Humbert began this tournament ranked 103rd and had to play two qualifying matches to make it into the main draw. He beat Aslan Karatsev in his second match, coming from a set down to win. That took him into a first round match against Jenson Brooksby and he won that for the loss of only five games. Earlier this year, Humbert was as high as 25th in the rankings but slipped down the list after the points from his winning the 2021 Halle Open were taken away. He's up to 87th after his win over Brooksby. His best form this year has been seen on the Challenger Tour with a recent title in Rennes. This is going to be tough against the in-form Rune and it's the Norwegian who can get into the last eight.
