Heather Watson vs Jule Niemeier Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Wimbledon Championships

It's taken 12 years for Heather Watson to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon. Now she takes on Jule Niemeier for a place in the quarter finals against either Tatjana Maria or 12th seeded Jelena Ostapenko. Watson had never previouslhy made it past the third round of any Grand Slam singles until Friday. It's been a strange week for her with both her first and second round matches taking two days to complete. The second round saw her have to come back the next day just to win one game. No seeded players have been beaten on her way to the last 16 and only Tamara Korpatsch in the first round has taken a set off her. Will she be able to cope with the pressure of possibly reaching the quarter finals? Playing doubles might not be helping her too much either. 

There's been one previous match played between these players. That was in Monterrey earlier this year and Watson won that in three sets. Jule Niemeier is world ranked 97th, which is 12 places higher than her opponent. Both players will be bemoaning the fact there are no ranking points to be won at Wimbledon this year. Niemeier had only played in the main draw of a Grand Slam once before this tournament. That was in the 2022 French Open, where she lost in three sets to Sloane Stephens. Her only previous entry into this event saw her lose in the third qualifying round. This time around, her ranking got her straight into the main draw. The German is best known for her ability on clay with a WTA125 tournament win this year and six lower level victories. Now she's showing good form on grass as well. Wins have come against Wang Xiyu, the second seeded Anett Kontaveit and Lesia Tsurenko (who beat Watson at Eastbourne)/ That looks better than the results achieved by her opponent and she won't be under the pressure that Watson will be. Go for Niemeier to win this.
