World number 91 Harriet Dart will play the 27th seed Linda Noskova at the French Open next. They will battle in the first round with the winner progressing to play Irina-Camelia Begu or Julia Riera. Harriet Dart is playing in the main draw for only the second time here. The Briton hasn’t had the best of times at Roland Garros and is still waiting for her first victory. This is the only major in which she is yet to win a main draw fixture. This of course is because she isn’t a strong clay court performer. She has compiled a 24-32 record on the surface in her career and this season has lost six of nine fixtures. One of the semi-finalists at this year’s Cluj edition, Dart is on a four-match losing run. She was defeated in the first round in Rabat last time out. The 27-year-old will begin her campaign having moved up one place to 90th in the live ranking.

Linda Noskova is seeing a dip in form and arrives here having managed just one win in her last four fixtures. She was defeated in the second round in Rome in her last match. The world number 29, who is a decent clay court performer, is struggling on the surface. She has lost three of five matches on clay. Before her recent struggles, Noskova, who has compiled a 16-9 record, had a strong start to the year. She started with a semi-final run in Brisbane and then followed this up with a run to the quarter-finals in Melbourne. Her run at the Australian Open is her best-ever result at a Grand Slam. Noskova has also recorded third-round finishes in Rome, Miami, Indian Wells and Doha. This is the 19-year-old’s third appearance at Roland Garros. Last year she qualified for the second round.
