Hailey Baptiste is just one place below her opponent in the live rankings. The American had a tough first round match against Renata Zarazua and had to come from behind after losing the first set 6-2. 

Baptiste has also reached one quarter-final this year. That was in Auckland where she lost to Naomi Osaka in three sets. Her win over Zarazua saw her avoid a third successive defeat after a first round exit at the Australian Open.
