Guido Pella vs Ilya Ivashka Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Geneva Open

World number 86, Ilya Ivashka, will take on 421st-ranked Guido Pella in the opening round of the ATP Geneva Open on Tuesday. The winner of this match will face eighth seed Adrian Mannarino in the next round. Following a serious knee injury that saw him miss over a year of action, Pella received a protected ranking as he continues to work his way back to his best. The Argentine has found it difficult since his comeback in Cordoba and currently holds a record of 4-6 overall and 2-3 on the clay. The clay has historically been a surface Pella enjoys, and he showed glimpses of his best form when beating Juan Pablo Varillas and Maxim Cressy in Miami and Rome, respectively. With Roland Garros just around the corner, Pella will relish the opportunity of gaining some more valuable court time here. They have played each other once in the past, which Pella won in three sets on the indoor hard court back in 2018.

Meanwhile, it’s been a bit of a nightmare for Ivashka over the last month and a half after making a positive start on the clay at the Monte Carlo Masters in April. Following a round of 32 defeat to Karen Khachanov in that tournament, the Belarusian has bowed out in the first round of the last four tournaments he’s played in coming into this one. He is now on a five-match losing streak. His poor form saw him turn to the Challenger circuit last week, but that paid little dividends as he came up against Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the first round and lost in straight sets. Ivashka reached the quarter-final of this tournament last year, but this time around just needs a win to stop the rot. He’ll fancy his chances against an opponent that has played very little over the last 18 months.
