Jannik Sinner is the second seed at Roland Garros and faces tenth seeded Grigor Dimitrov in the Roland Garros quarter-final. A win for Sinner will take him a big step closer to dethroning Novak Djokovic as the world number one. Whoever wins this match will face Carlos Alcaraz or Stefanos Tsitsipas for a place in the final. Sinner has already won the Australian Open this year and is in only his second quarter-final at Roland Garros, the other being four years ago. He tops both the live rankings and ATP Race at present but is yet to win a clay court tournament in 2024. His best has been a semi-final in Monte Carlo. Only one set has been dropped by the Italian on his way to the last eight. That was in his last match against unseeded Corentin Moutet when losing the opening set. He fought back brilliantly and dropped only six games in the remaining three sets. Sinner leads Dimitrov 3-1 in previous meetings. Dimitrov won the only match on clay but that was played four years ago when Sinner was ranked 81st.

Gigor Dimitrov first played in this tournament 13 years ago and he's finally reached the quarter-finals. The Bulgarian is eighth in the live rankings but beating Sinner will take him up to seventh. He'll overtake Hubert Hurkacz who he beat in three sets in round four. That was a tight match with two of the sets going to a tie-break. Dimitrov has also only dropped one set, that was to qualifier Zizou Bergs in round three. He's also eighth in the Live Race and this is his first clay court quarter-final of the year. We tip Sinner to win this in straight sets.
