Tenth seed Grigor Dimitrov is up against the veteran Gael Monfils in round three at Wimbledon. In round four, the winner of this match will face either the fifth seed Daniil Medvedev or unseeded Jan-Lennard Struff.

Dimitrov is hoping to make it into the fourth round at Wimbledon for the second year in a row. It's ten years since his best performance in this grass court Grand Slam when reaching the semi-finals. He won the Queen's Club title that year too.

He's currently tenth in both the live rankings and ATP Race. He only played one warm-up grass court tournament and that was at Queen's Club. It didn't go too well with him being beaten in the second round by Sebastian Korda.

This week has gone well so far and in round one he beat unseeded Dusan Lajovic in straight sets. Round two was a lot tougher though as he went two sets to love down against Juncheng Shang. He fought back well though and only lost ten games in the next three sets.

Gael Monfils first played in this tournament in 2005. This is his eighth time in round three but only once has he gone any further. That was in 2018 when reaching the fourth round. Wimbledon remains the only Grand Slam in which he's failed to reach the last eight.

The Frenchman is 38 in September but there's no talk of retirement. So far this week he's beaten the out-of-form 22nd seed Adrian Mannarino in four sets. Round two saw a real meeting of the veterans as he beat Stan Wawrinka in straight sets.

Monfils leads Dimitrov 4-1 in previous matches. They've never played on grass and this is their first match in eight years. We predict that there will be over 3.5 sets played in this match.
