For the third year in a row, Frances Tiafoe is in the last eight of the US Open. The 20th seed faces ninth seeded Grigor Dimitrov for a place in the semi-finals of this hard-court Grand Slam. Read our match prediction below.

His only last four appearance came in 2022 and he'll  be hoping to get through this match and set up a semi-final against either Taylor Fritz or Alexander Zverev.

He remains 20th in the live rankings but winning this match can take him up to 16th. In the run-up to this tournament, the 26-year-old made it to the last four in Washington and then reached the final of the Cincinnati Masters.

His good hard-court form has continued in New York. Wins have come against Aleksandar Kovacevic (in four sets) and Alexander Shevchenko. That took him into a match against 13th seed Ben Shelton and he had to win the last two sets to win in five.

The last 16 saw him beat the 28th seed Alexei Popyrin in four sets. His last two matches have both seen a tie-break played. Against Dimitrov, he trails 3-1 and four tie-breaks have been played in those matches.

Grigor Dimitrov is playing his second US Open quarter-final. He won the other one five years ago but lost in the next round. The world number nine can climb to seventh if winning this match.

The first three rounds of this tournament produced straight sets wins over Kyrian Jacquet, Rinky Hijikata and Tallon Griekspoor.

It was much tougher in the last 16 as he beat the sixth seed Andrey Rublev. He won the first two sets, lost the next two but won the decider 6-3. He's played two tie-breaks so far in this tournament.
