Third seed Daniil Medvedev takes on unseeded Grigor Dimitrov in the Paris Masters second round. For the winner of this match there's a match against unseeed opposition, either Nicolas Jarry or Alexander Bublik. Medvedev has a strong record in this indoor hard court tournament. He was the champion in 2020 and was the runner-up in the following year. The Russian is third in both the overall rankings and ATP Race but can't climb any higher even if winning this tournament. He has already qualified for the end-of-season ATP Tour Finals. Last week saw him lose to Jannik Sinner in the final of the Erste Open. On his way to that final he beat Grigor Dimitrov but had to come from a set down to get the victory. Medvedev has won five singles titles this year and a win in this match will be his 65th win of the year. He's reached the final in three of his last four tournaments but last lifted a trophy in May.

Grigor Dimitrov is in 17th place in both the overall rankings and the Live ATP Race. He can't qualify for the ATP Tour Finals but will give Medvedev a difficult match in Paris. The Bulgarian has shown some good form in recent months with a couple of last fours being reached and a quarter final, all on hard courts. He's beaten both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner so Medvedev will need to be on top of his game to get to the third round. He has lost six of his previous eight matches against his opponent.with two losses to Medvedev this year, both on hard courts. Only one of his two wins over the Russian came on a hard court and that was two years ago. Dimitrov beat Lorenzo Musetti in the first round. He had to go to three sets though, losing the second on a tie-break. We go for Medvedev to get another win over Dimitrov.
