The final singles match on day one of the 2024 Laver Cup sees Grigor Dimitrov take on Alejandro Tabilo. Dimitrov will hope to get a win for Team Europe in this hard court tournament. Here's our match prediction.
Last year saw Team World dominate this international challenge. They won all but one of the singles and doubles matches that were played. Team Europe has a strong line-up this year and a closer match is expected in Berlin.
Grigor Dimitrov is currently ranked ten and also in that position in the ATP Live Race. There are no ranking points on offer in the Laver Cup though. The Bulgarian is playing in this competition for only the second time.
His only other appearance came in 2019 when he beat Frances Tiafoe. Dimitrov is playing his first match since being beaten by Tiafoe in the quarter-final of this year's US Open.
He's won one hard court title this year and reached two other finals. Against Tabillo, he has won their only meeting, a three-set win in this year's Miami hard court tournament.
Alejandro Tabilo is ranked 22nd but was a career-high 19th two months ago. It's been a big year for the Chilean who has won two ATP Tour titles this year. However, his form has dipped in recent months.
Last week saw him lose all three of his Davis Cup matches and that makes it six successive defeats for him. We tip Dimitrov to make it seven and to do so without dropping a set.
