The final match of week eight in the 2024 Currie Cup will come from the HT Pelatona Projects Stadium where the Griffons will be playing host to the Pumas. The hosts are currently bottom of the table while the visitors are fifth. Let’s get into the match prediction.

It’s been another tough season for the Griffons who head into the eighth week of the competition yet to win a match and with just two points to their names so far. 

Seven defeats in a row and just two losing bonus points earned means that even if the Griffons win the remainder of their matches from here on, they will almost certainly fail to reach the knockout stage. 

The hosts were beaten convincingly by Griquas last week and lost home and away to their upcoming opponents last season.

Meanwhile, the Pumas are in a spot of bother eight weeks into the competition, as they are the first team outside of the qualification places, two points behind the fourth-placed Sharks. 

Last week, the Pumas played host to the league-leading Blue Bulls and suffered a 40-24 defeat, which was their third loss of the season. They have won three and drawn one of their other four games. 

Still, it’s difficult to see last season’s runners-up losing this match given their opponents' record over the last two campaigns in the Premier Division.
