Griffons vs Western Province Prediction & Betting Tips - Currie Cup

The final match in round three of the 2024 Currie Cup will see the Griffons taking on Western Province at the Down Touch Investments Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The hosts are currently bottom of Pool 2 while the visitors are third. 

Both these sides are heading into this match looking to secure their first win of the season. The Griffons ended last season bottom of the table with a single win in 14 games and based on their performances this term, they look likely to struggle again this year.

Week one saw the Griffons head to the Free State to face the Cheetahs and they were completely blown away, losing the match 82-20. Last weekend they played host to the Bulls but it was a similar situation as they went down 75-21 to the men from Pretoria. 

The Griffons are the only team in the Premier Division that are yet to earn a point this season. They also have the out-and-out worst points difference following those heavy losses of -104. 

Western Province won this fixture home and away last season, including a 25-21 victory here at this venue. 

This term, though, Province have got off to a poor start in the competition, currently second-bottom in the standings. However, the one positive for the side is that they’ve managed to earn two bonus points so far. 

Both points came from their opening match of the competition where they scored four tries and lost by fewer than seven points to the Bulls at home. Last week, though, they were no match for the defending champion Cheetahs, falling 37-17 on the road. 

The visitors won just three of their seven away games last season, but given their opponent here, Province will feel this is a match they should win.
