11th seeded Cameron Norrie looks to continue his impressive start to 2023.  This is a second round match in the Miami Masters and he takes on unseeded Gregoire Barrere. Norrie could face 17th seeded Borna Coric in round three if that seed can beat Christopher Eubanks in their second round match. Norrie began this tournament ranked 12th but is up to 11th in the live rankings. He's doing much better in the ATP Tour Race as he's in fifth position. That's down to one title win this year and reaching two other finals. His success has come on both clay (his title was won in Rio beating Carlos Alcaraz) and hard courts. His most recent tournament saw him reach the last 16 at Indian Wells, including a win over Andrey Rublev.

Gregoire Barrere started this Miami Masters ranked 65th. He's up to 62nd in the live rankings but that's still four places below his career high achieved last month. Barrere has won one tournament this year and that was a Challenger Tour event held in Quimper. He's had some success on the ATP Tour wtih a quarter final in Montpellier and reaching the last 16 in Rotterdam. Recently his form has dipped and he'd lost three matches (all in straight sets) before getting a three-set win over qualifier Roman Safiulin in the first round.
