Great Britain vs Switzerland Prediction & Betting Tips - Davis Cup
by Joseph King | in Tennis Predictions
The second fixture in Group B of the Davis Cup sees third-place Great Britain taking on fourth-place Switzerland. A win for Great Britain here would see them go top of the group and all but guarantee a spot in the quarter-final. The Brits kicked off the Davis Cup group stage with a 2-1 win over Australia. The match was in the bag courtesy of two singles wins by talented youngster Jack Draper and established veteran Daniel Evans. Australia would pull back the doubles encounter but would ultimately still go home with the loss. Great Britain has a talented squad at the Davis Cup. The aforementioned Jack Draper and 27th-ranked Daniel Evans are joined by 17th-ranked Cameron Norrie. They’re also sure to benefit greatly with the experienced 41st-ranked Andy Murray as a part of the squad. Anchoring the final matches on the schedule is doubles maestro Neal Skupski who holds the world number three spot.
On the other side, Switzerland were swept by France 3-0 to experience the worst possible start to their Davis Cup campaign. The Swiss are up against it here as they enter this matchup as significant underdogs to get the win over GB. A loss here would eliminate Switzerland from the competition even with their final group stage match still to play. The lack of depth in the team was on full display in their loss to the French. Switzerland has some decent talent with three-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka the name that immediately draws the attention. However, Wawrinka is 38 years old and is the highest-ranked player in this squad at 40th. A glaring weakness in the team composition is the lack of a true doubles pro. None of the five squad members specialize in the discipline with the highest doubles ranking among them also Wawrinka at 217th.

Our Great Britain vs Switzerland Prediction
We will likely see Cameron Norrie, who is ranked 17th in the world, taking on 40th-ranked Wawrinka in one of the singles matchups. That would leave Daniel Evans or Andy Murray to face either 90th-ranked Stricker or 101st-ranked Huesler. The biggest advantage Great Britain will likely have is the doubles matchup. If they can pencil that in as a win, they’ll only need to win one of the two singles matches to lock up the victory. A separate bet on Great Britain to win 3-0 also looks to hold good value. Our Great Britain vs Switzerland prediction is for Great Britain to win.
