Great Britain take on Germany in the last eight of the Davis Cup Finals. The winners of this tie will face either hosts Spain or Argentina in the semi-finals. Great Britain qualified for the knock-out stages of this revamped tournament by winning Group E. They were the only team in the group to win both of their matches with victories over the Netherlands and Kazazhstan. Their first match was against the Dutch side and was won 2-1. Andy Murray had to come from a set down to beat Tallon Griekspoor but Dan Evans (their present number one ranked player) lost to Robin Hasse in three sets. It went down to the deciding doubles with the team of Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski getting a straight sets victory. Up next was the match against Kazakhstan, who had already beaten the Netherlands 2-1. Andy Murray was rested for this match and was replaced by Kyle Edmund, who beat Mikhail Kukushkin in straight sets. Evans again lost his match going down to Alexander Bublik in three sets but their doubles team again rescued them to win the match and the group.

Germany also won both their matches as they won Group D. They defeated Argentina (wishing this was being played on clay) 3-0 with singles wins for Philipp Kohlscreiber and Jan-Lennard Struff. Next up for them was a match against Chile, who had already lost 3-0 to the Argentinian side. Germany were again victorious but it went to the deciding doubles due to Struff being beaten in three sets by Cristian Garin despite winning the first set. Germany won the doubles though to clinch the win and the group. Great Britain should have Andy Murray back for this match and with them also having the better doubles team, they can progress to the last four.
