Golden State Warriors vs Phoenix Suns Prediction & Betting Tips - NBA
by Joseph King | in NBA Predictions
The second and final game of the NBA opening night doubleheader sees the Golden State Warriors hosting the Phoenix Suns. The 2021/22 NBA champion Golden State Warriors will be looking to improve over last season’s sixth-seed finish in the Western Conference. They were sent home in the second round of the playoffs by the Los Angeles Lakers. It represented the first time that Golden State made the playoffs and didn’t make the NBA Finals in their past six appearances. The big offseason move for the Dubs was the acquisition of Chris Paul from the Wizards in exchange for Jordan Poole. The drama caused between Poole and Draymond Green clearly had an impact on the team performance last season. While Draymond will miss out on this game, the addition of CP3 brings even more experience to an already extremely savvy Warriors team. Golden State had the largest discrepancy last season between their home and away results, posting a .805 home winning percentage compared to .268 on the road.
The Suns made a number of offseason moves as well as they retool in an attempt to break through and win an NBA championship. Phoenix made the finals in the 2020/21 season only to finish as runners-up behind the Bucks. In the two years since, the Suns have been knocked out in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. Despite the addition of All-NBA talent Kevin Durant last season to go along with Devin Booker, Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton, Phoenix were bounced by the eventual champion Denver Nuggets. They’ve since traded both Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton in a bid to acquire Wizards All-Star guard Bradley Beal. The result gives Phoenix arguably the most talented ‘big-three’ in the NBA with Durant, Booker and Beal, although it came at the expense of nearly all of their depth.
