High-flying Glasgow Warriors welcome French giants Racing Metro to the Scotstoun Stadium in Friday’s Champions Cup match. The Warriors and Le Racing are currently in contrasting forms and below comes our preview and prediction.
Glasgow Warriors currently sit second in Group 4 having registered a loss and a victory in their opening two games this season. Franco Smith’s men got off to a strong start in the campaign following a 38-19 annihilation of Sale Sharks.
The Scottish side however suffered an agonizing 30-29 loss to table toppers RC Toulonnais. In the United Rugby Championship, the Warriors are enjoying a fine season, sitting second with 33 points from nine games.
By contrast, Racing Metro are enduring a tough spell that has seen them go four games without victory. Their form is even more worrying in the French Top 14, having gone on a five-game winless run.
Stuart Lancaster’s men, however, began their Champions Cup campaign with a 23-12 win over Premiership side Harlequins. In their most recent European game, they lost 29-7 to Sale Sharks to leave them fifth with four points.
Points have been a challenge for Racing, having registered just 30, the joint lowest in their Group. Last time out in the Top 14, Racing suffered a 36-24 loss to fellow group rivals RC Toulonnais.
