Both Germany and Slovenia have qualified for the quarter-finals of this Olympic tournament. Now they battle it out on Sunday to see who will finish in top place. A draw for Germany will see them finish first in the group. Read on to discover our prediction for this match.

Germany have six points from their four games and lead second-placed Slovenia on goal difference. Three of their four matches have ended in victory The most recent of those was on Friday when they beat Spain by two goals. Before that, they'd had wins over Sweden and Japan but then lost their unbeaten record when losing to Croatia on the last day of July. That's their only loss in the last eight matches 

The Germans are through to their third consecutive Olympic quarter-finals. Their last time past that stage was in 2016 when winning the bronze. They haven't played Slovenia since 2021 and won that match by nine goals.

Slovenia also won on Friday but it was not an impressive performance. They beat bottom-of the group Japan, but only by a single goal. That was the fourth defeat for the Japanese side who lost to Germany by an 11-goal margin last week.

The Slovenians were winning their third match in a row in this group. Their campaign had got off to a slow start with a defeat to Spain in their opening fixture after leading at half-time. Their three wins have come by a combined goal-margin of only eight. We back Germany to win this match.
