Their combined points allowed in the group stages were the lowest by any team in the first round. They are also putting up 89.3 points a game which is a tally only bettered by two other teams. Greece avoided elimination from the Summer Games in their final group match. Making a return to the Olympic stage to end a 16-year hiatus, they struggled and lost their first two matches. They were undone 86-79 by a star-studded Canada team on matchday one and then fell by an almost similar score line to Spain.
But on matchday three, they would figure it out and see off Australia in an intense battle. Vassilis Spanoulis’s men put up 77 points against an Australian team littered with NBA talent and won by six points. This ended a run of three defeats for the two-time EuroBasket champions.
Greece had been in splendid form in the first half of the year and won 11 straight games before their three-game skid. Now they will be hoping to maintain their dominance against Germany. The Beloved have won eight of the 12 matchups with Germany, one of their wins coming at the 2008 Olympics.

Our Germany vs Greece Prediction
Our prediction for Germany v Greece is for the match to see over 155.0 points scored. This is a knockout match and that already spices up what will be the 13th time these two nations battle. Germany have been impressive in Paris and are yet to lose a match.
Their 89.3 points per game record is the third-best tally of the Games. They are likely to put up such numbers given Greece’s defensive struggles. Greece have allowed over 70 points in each of their three matches. They, however, have done the same on the offensive end and are averaging over 70 points a contest. A high-scoring game should therefore be expected here.
