Garbiñe Muguruza vs Petra Kvitová Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA US Open

Petra Kvitova has been climbing back up the rankings in recent months. The number 21 seed faces ninth seeded Garbine Muguruza in the third round of the US Open. Waiting in the next round for the winner is either qualifier Yuan Yue or the eighth seeded Jessica Pegula. Kvitova won the grass court tournament held in Eastbourne in June and recently lost to Caroline Garcia in the Cincinnati Masters final. Kvitova had been as low as 34th in May but is now19th in the live rankings. Kvitova has had wins over Erika Andreeva (second set won 6-0) and then received a walkover when Anhelina Kalinina withdrew. Seven years ago, Kvitova lost her first match against Muguruza, since then she's won five in a row with her most recent win being in Doha this year on a hard court with just three games lost.

It's not been a great year for Muguruza who is now ranked 10th in the world but began the year in third place. The WTA Race tells the story as that is based on points earned this year.In the live list, Kvitova is 17th but Muguruza down in 52nd position. Only one match out of three had been won in Grand Slam events this year with first round exits in both France and at Wimbledon. Not since February has the Spaniard reached a quarter final and only two have been achieved this year, the other in January. This week has seen some better form with wins over Clara Tauson and qualifer Linda Fruhvirtova. This is more difficult though and the tip is for Kvitova to get another win over Muguruza.
