For the third successive match, Ugo Humbert faces a fellow French player. The 16th seed takes on unseeded Gael Monfils in the third round of the hard court Shanghai Masters. Here's our match prediction.

The past week has seen Humbert lose to Arthur Fils in the Tokyo final and then beat Arthur Cazaux in his first match in this tournament. Humbert is 16th in the live rankings and two places lower in the ATP Race.

The 26-year-old had an excellent first half of the year with two hard court titles being won. He's struggled for consistency since then but showed a return to form with his run to the final in Tokyo. 

He received a bye into the second round of this Masters event and then beat Arthur Cazaux for the loss of only five games. Humbert leads Monfils 3-1 in previous meetings with two of his victories coming on hard courts.. They've shared the two matches played this year with Humbert winning the most recent one in three sets.

Gael Monfils is the world number 46 and has climbed two places in the live list. The 38-year-old is 52nd in the ATP Live Race, up one place this week. He's had to play two matches so far in Shanghai.

Round one saw him get a straight sets victory over fellow unseeded player Darim Dzumhur. It was tougher in round two and it took him three sets to defeat the 22nd seed Sebastian Baez, dropping the middle one. We go for over 21.5 games to be played in this match.
