An unseeded player will be in the final of the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand. Gael Monfils takes on qualifier Nishesh Basavareddy for a place in the final of this outdoor hard court tournament. Here's our match prediction.

Although Monfils is 38 now there's still no talk of him retiring. While he's in this kind of form, there's no need to consider doing so. The French player is back in the top 50 as he's up to 49th in the live rankings.

Last week saw him lose to Novak Djokovic in the second round of the Brisbane International. He's had better results in Auckland with victories over Pedro Martinez (after losing the first set), ninth-seeded Jan-Lennard Struff and lucky loser Facundo Diaz Acosta.

Nishesh Basavareddy is up to a career-high 106th in the live list and he can climb into the top 100 if winning this semi-final. The American is only 19 and Monfils was playing in Grand Slams before he was born.

Basavareddy had to win two qualifiers to get into this main draw and that included a win over Botic van de Zandschulp. In the main draw, he's beaten lucky loser Francisco Comesana, second seed and defending champion Alejandro Tabilo and eighth seed Alex Michelsen, the latter two in three sets.
