The top two seeds meet in the final of the Adelaide International. Top seeded Gael Monfils takes on Karen Khachanov with the Frenchman looking for a much better 2022. He struggled with injury and loss of form last year and dropped 10 places in the world rankings. He only made it past the last 16 in three tournaments last year. His best spell of form came in September with a run to the semi-finals in Metz followed by losing in the final to Jannik Sinner in Austria. The rest of the year was rather disappointing for Monfils who is now 35 years old. He's shown good form in Adelaide this week with wins over Juan Manuel Cerundolo, sixth seeded Tommy Paul and Thanasi Kokkinakis for the loss of only 13 games. A win here will see Monfils win his first ATP title since 2020.

You have to go back to 2018 for the last time that Karen Khachanov won an ATP title. That was the Paris Masters and the third tournament he won that year. It's been a long wait for another title victory and the former world number eight is now down to 29th. He was close to a major win last year though, losing to Alexander Zverev in the final of the Olympics tournament. He had to go to three sets to get past Steve Johnson in the second round but then beat Egor Gerasimov in straight sets. The semi-finals saw him defeat third seeded Marin Cilic 7-6 6-3. This is the first meeting between the two players. A tight affair looks likely, go for Monfils to get the win.
