Gael Monfils has yet again made it to the fourth round at the Australian Open and will face off with 21st seed Ben Shelton. The winner of their first career meeting will play Lorenzo Sonego or Learner Tien in the quarter-finals. Below is our prediction for this match.

Gael Monfils will play in the second week in Melbourne for a sixth time. He has twice made it to the quarter-finals.

The veteran Frenchman is having a superb start to the season and will check in for this tie confident of a win. Monfils, who is on an eight-match winning streak, arrived in Melbourne after winning the title in Auckland.

To progress to the fourth round, the 38-year-old produced a shock 3-1 victory over fourth seed Taylor Fritz. His performances this week have moved him up to 32nd in the live ranking.

Ben Shelton has qualified for the second week in Melbourne for the second time in his three appearances. He made the quarter-finals on his debut two seasons ago and will aim to surpass that feat.

Shelton, who has won his last two matches in four sets, defeated 16th seed Lorenzo Musetti in the third round. He has now won three of four matches this season.

Advancing to this round has moved the 22-year-old back into the ATP top 20. He is now placed 18th in the live ranking.
