Yosuke Watanuki and Gabriel Diallo will be back in action at the Miami Open. In Florida the two will be meeting in the first round of qualifiers. We have a prediction for the match below. 

This will be the first time Watanuki and Diallo clash, with the winner to meet Martin Damm or Brandon Holt next. After entering Indian Wells as a qualifier, Diallo progressed as a lucky loser and went on to reach the main draw. 

He suffered a 2-0 defeat against Arthur Fils in the second round, and here he will be keen on advancing past the qualifiers again. Diallo arrives for this match having lost three times in the last five matches.

Like Diallo, Watanuki is also coming from an unsuccessful sojourn at the Indian Wells. The world number 214 advanced to one more stage though. Watanuki reached the fourth round in California.

On his way, playing as a qualifier, Watanuki beat higher ranked Alexander Bublik, Tomas Machac and Frances Tiafoe. His journey would, however, end with a straight-set defeat at the fourth round after he fell to Tallon Griekspoor.

That marked their first loss in six matches and they’ve only dropped three sets in the process. Up to this point in the season, Watanuki has compiled a 9-5 record.
