Round three of the hard court US Open sees 14th seed Tommy Paul take on qualifier Gabriel Diallo. The winner goes into the last 16, could it be a qualifier? Find out in our in-depth match prediction.

Gabriel Diallo was only ranked 143rd in the latest ranking list. That means he had to go through the qualifying rounds to get through to the main draw. Two of his three wins saw him drop a set.

That was also the case in his first round match when he beat Jaume Munar in four sets. It was more of the same in round two as he defeated the 24th seed Arthur Fils in four sets after losing the second.

He's up to 103rd in the live rankings and that has smashed his previous career-high of 129th. In the Live Race, he's up 50 places to 125th.

Tommy Paul is in round three of the US Open for the third successive year. He got to the fourth round last year and that's his best performance in the US Open. He's 12th in the live rankings and a place higher in the ATP Race.

Round one saw him beat Lorenzo Sonego and only four games were dropped. It wasn't too difficult in round two either. He had only lost five games (all in the first set) when opponent Max Purcell retired.
