Top seed Francisco Cerundolo has a tough quarter-final match in the Chile Open. He faces fellow Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry who is seeded fifth in this outdoor hard court tournament. Can he beat the top seed? Here's our match prediction.

Cerundolo has made a good start to the South American clay court tour. He made it to the final in Buenos Aires and then last week in Rio was beaten in the quarter-finals. The 26-year-old is 27th in the live rankings. 

This week in Santiago, he has beaten unseeded Yannick Hanfmann in his one match. That took him three sets with the final set won on a tie-break.

There have been eight previous meetings between these two players. They are level at 4-4 with Cerundolo 4-3 up on clay. Etcheverry has won three of their last four matches, including one in this tournament two years ago.

Etcheverry was ranked 43rd in the latest list. The 25-year-old has struggled this year and this is his first time past round two of a tournament. So far on clay in 2025, he's lost in round one in Buenos Aires and the second in Rio.

It's gone better this week with victories over Hugo Gaston and Cristian Garin without dropping a set. We tip Cerundolo to win this.
