Francisco Cerundolo vs Pedro Martinez Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Hamburg Open

Fourth seed Francisco Cerundolo attempts to reach his second clay court semi-final of the year. The Argentinian faces unseeded Pedro Martinez in the quarter-finals of the Hamburg Open. In the last four, the winner could face top seeded Alexander Zverev or eighth seed Zhizhen Zhang.

Cerundolo is the world number 33 but down three places in the live rankings. He's far better on this surface and didn't win a match on grass this year. Earlier in 2024, Cerundolo made it to the last 16 at Roland Garros. the last four in Rio and the quarter-finals in  Bucharest and then Madrid where he beat Zverev.

Back on clay it's been going well for Cerundolo this week. He's beaten lucky loser Federico Comesana in round one and then wild card Maximilian Marterer. He only dropped two games against Marterer, all in the second set.

World number 49 Pedro Martinez has recaptured some of the form he showed on this surface earlier this year. The Spaniard reached a Challenger Tour final and also the title decider of the ATP Tour event held in Estoril. The last eight was also reached in Bucharest.

His form dipped after that with four successive matches lost before getting to the final of the Challenger Tour event held in Bordeaux but then lost two of his next three matches back on the ATP Tour. All three of his recent grass court matches ended in defeat.

It's gone better back on clay and in round one, he beat the sixth seed Matteo Arnaldi in straight sets. It was tougher in round two and he had to go to a final set to defeat qualifier Ugo Blanchet, losing set two without winning a game. We go for Cerundolo to win this in straight sets.
