Cerundolo lost the first time he contested the Buenos Aires final. That was four years ago, his first time reaching a tour final. Now he contests another final on home soil as a three-time tour champion.

He defeated Pedro Martinez in straight sets in the semi-finals. The Argentine has lost just one set in his four matches this week. Advancing to the final has seen him improve to a 6-2 record and bumped him up to 26th in the live ranking.

Joao Fonseca is playing in his first-ever tour final. To achieve this feat, the Brazilian battled for two hours and 36 minutes to defeat qualifier Laslo Djere in three sets.

It was the third successive match this week that he had required a decider to win. The 18-year-old is having an exciting season.

He has won 13 of 15 matches alternating between the tour and challenger circuits. This has led to him scaling new heights in the world rankings.

Fonseca, who won the Canberra Challenger back in January, has shot up 25 places to 74th in the world ranking.
