The defending champion Frances Tiafoe takes on unseeded Yannick Hanfmann in round  two of the BOSS Open. The winner goes into the last eight and the possible seeded opponent is Jack Draper. Tiafoe may be defending his title but he's only the fourth seed this year. The American received a bye into the second round and is 29th in the live rankings. Some good results will be needed in the coming weeks to ensure his seeding at Wimbledon. Tiafoe has been struggling for consistency since reaching the final of the US clay court championships in April. Before that he got to two quarter-finals and a semi-final on hard courts and was as high as 15th in the rankings four months ago. On grass, Tiafoe has reached the fourth round at Wimbledon and his win in this tournament last year is the only final on this surface he's reached.

Yannick Hanfmann will have the German fans cheering him on in Stuttgart. He beat wild card Henri Squire in straight sets in his first round match. That's taken Hanfmann to 90th in the live rankings, 45 places below the career-high he achieved last July. The German had lost his three previous matches before that win, all the defeats coming on clay. Hanfmann has never made it past round one at Wimbledon but did get to the last four in Mallorca in 2023, including a win over Stefanos Tsitsipas. A win over Tiafoe will take him into the last eight in Stuttgart for the first time. However, we believe it will be Tiafoe who wins this match.
