15th seed Holger Rune attempts to reach his sixth ATP hard court final. He takes on unseeded Frances Tiafoe in the Cincinnati Masters semi-final. The winner will take on either top seed Jannik Sinner or third seeded Alexander Zverev. Read our match prediction.

Rune has only reached one final this year. That was on a hard court in Brisbane right at the start of the year where he eventually lost to Grigor Dimitrov. He's currently 15th in the live rankings but will rise a place if winning this match.

The 21-year-old has had a tough route to this semi-final. In round one he beat Matteo Barrettini but lost the first set. He then beat Nuno Borges in straight sets but then had to come from behind to get past Gael Monfils in the last 16.

Saturday's quarter-final was a bit smoother with a straight sets victory over Jack Draper. This is his first match against Frances Tiafoe.

His American opponent is up to 23rd in the live rankings thanks to this run to the last four in Cincinnati. If he can make it to the final he'll climb to 20th.  He'd lost his last two matches before this tournament, exiting in round one of the Rogers Cup last week.

It's gone much better for him in Cincinnati though. Wins have come against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 14th seed Lorenzo Musetti without dropping a set. It took him three to get past Jiri Lehecka, the last two both going to a tie-break.

In the quarter-finals, Tiafoe took the first set against fifth seed Hubert Hurkacz. The Pole then retired in the second before a game had been played. His only hard court title was won six years ago, we tip Rune to get the win here.
