Paris-Roubaix Predictions & Betting tips - France
by Matthew Newman |
Paris-Roubaix is known as 'The Hell of the North' and lives up to its nickname on a regular basis. There are 30 cobbled sections for riders to negotiate, including the famous Aranberg Trench where flat tyres are commonplace. Let's break down the 2025 race and make our prediction.
Mathieu van der Poel has won the last two editions of this race. He won by three minutes last year in a devastating performance. Things did not go to plan in the Tour of Flanders last time out when he was third behind Tadej Pogacar.
Pogacar has never ridden in this race in the past which is an interesting conundrum. It is a very difficult course but he is one of the most powerful riders in the peloton. Confidence will be high after Flanders but that lack of experience is a concern.
Both Mads Pederson and Wout van Aert are specialists in these Classic events. They were second and fourth in last week's Tour of Flanders. Pederson was fourth in this in 2023 and third last year while van Aert missed the classics last year but was runner-up in 2022 and third in 2023.
At a much higher price, Stefan Kung is worth considering. He was seventh in the Tour of Flanders last week and has been third, fifth and fifth in the last three renewals of this event.

Paris-Roubaix - France prediction key points
- Experience is key with 30 cobbled sections totalling more than 53km to negotiate during the 259km race. It is 95km before the first cobbled section is met.
- The last reigning Tour de France champion to win the Paris-Roubaix was Eddy Merckx in 1973. In fact, none have tried since Greg LeMond in 1991 which makes Tadej Pogacar’s appearance a surprise.
- Only two riders, Octave Lapize (1909-1911) and Francesco Moser (1978-1980) have won Paris-Roubaix three straight years. That’s the scale of the task facing Mathieu van der Poel as one of 10 other riders in history who has won back-to-back.
- Stefan Kung is the only rider in the field to finish in the top five in each of the last three renewals.

Our Paris-Roubaix - France prediction
In a race where luck plays such a big part, taking a short price about those at the head of the betting doesn't feel the way to go. There is no doubt that the likes of Mathieu van der Poel, Tadej Pogacar and Wout van Aert will be thereabouts but avoiding punctures and crashes through the race is not easy even for the most experienced rider.
As such, our Paris-Roubaix prediction is Stefan Küng. There are three places each way to play with at bet365 and having finished in the top five in three straight renewals of this race, Kung should give us a run for our money at much juicer odds, each way.
bet365 - Bet Boost
Available to all bet365 customers, you will find bet boosts when you click on the promotions tab on the site. The events that have bet boosts on them are easily identifiable with a green arrow next to them. To take the boosted price, just click on it to add it to your betslip.
They are found on most sports, with horse racing a firm favourite for bet boosts. The horse racing boosts can be found from 10 am up until 15 minutes before a race is scheduled to start but they are only valid to customers in the UK and Ireland. A bet boost cannot be combined with another bet boost, nor are they valid for any of the sport-specific boosts such as the football or tennis acca boosts.
