France are top of Group II in the Main Round of the Men's World Handball Championships. They take on third-placed North Macedonia in their final group fixture. Their opponents still have a chance to reach the last eight. Here's our match prediction.
The French side have won all of their matches in these championships. Qatar, Kuwait and Austria were beaten as they finished top of Group C in the Preliminary Round. Their good form has continued in the Main Round with victories over Hungary and the Netherlands and lead the group by three points.
Those wins have taken their winning run to nine games since losing to Germany in the Olympics quarter-finals. France were runners-up in the last World Championships and in 2024 became European champions.
North Macedonia have never made it past the Main Round of this tournament. They have improved on 2023 though when they ended up in the President's Cup. So far in these championships they have finished third in Preliminary Round Group D behind Hungary and the Netherlands.
In this Main Round, they have drawn with Austria and beaten Qatar. They have four points, a point behind second-placed Hungary with the top two qualifying. North Macedonia could still qualify but with Hungary facing already eliminated Qatar it's doubtful.
