France - Germany: Form Analysis
France have qualified for the last four at the Olympics for the second successive edition. They claimed silver in the Tokyo Games in 2021 and will be eager to better that feat. Vincent Collet’s men are seeking revenge against Germany who defeated them in the group stages.
That remains their only loss at this year’s Games. Les Bleus overcame the challenge of the highly favored Canadians 82-73 despite their star player performing way below average. Victor Wembanyama, who has averaged a team-leading 14.5 points in Paris, only managed seven points against Canada. France have defeated Germany seven times in 12 competitive matchups.
France have an opportunity to better their silver medal won at Tokyo 2020.
Germany have their 100% record in Paris intact. Gordon Herbert’s men have won all their four matches, while averaging 86 points per game. The reigning world champions scored their fewest points tally in the quarter-final showdown against Greece.
They however did manage to win 76-63. This is the first time that Die Mannschaft have advanced this far at the Olympics in the Men’s category. In the Tokyo Games, where they were ending a 12-year hiatus from the Olympics, Germany finished eighth. Their best-ever result at the Olympics before Paris 2024 was a seventh-place finish at the 1992 Games in Barcelona.

France & Germany Squad Analysis
France are averaging 81.3 points per game in this year’s tournament. They are shooting 44.7% from the field and 36% from three-point range. Wembanyama leads the team in points and is also putting up 1.8 blocks per game which has him third on the leaderboard.
Isaia Cordinier, who put up 20 points against Canada, is shooting a team-high 55.6% from three. Matthew Strazel has also been key for the French from three-point land, putting up 50%. Meanwhile, Rudy Gobert was restricted to just four minutes against Canada due to a finger injury. Gobert, who tops the leaderboard for most blocks per game with 2.0, will be a big blow if he misses out against Germany.
France will be relying on Wembanyama and others for revenge after their group stage loss to Germany.
Dennis Schroder and Franz Wagner combined for 52 points each against France in the group stages. They both put up 26 points in that contest and should again be the ones to spearhead Germany’s offence here. Wagner is averaging the fourth most points per game in Paris with 20.8 while Schroder is pouring in 18 points. Germany, who are shooting 49.8% from the field and 36.2 from three, have three players averaging at least 10 points.
