Old foes France and Germany will lock horns in the third quarter-final of the Mens Volleyball competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Monday evening. Les Blues finished second in Pool A, while the Eagles came second in Pool C. Check out our match prediction for this quarter-final blockbuster below.
France have made the most of their home advantage in this competition as they managed to secure an automatic qualification spot ahead of Serbia and Canada.
Les Bleus got their campaign started with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Serbia in match one before a much more comfortable win in game two against Canada where they romped to a 3-0 scoreline.
Despite fighting from two sets down against Slovenia in the final match, France came up short in the deciding set, marking their first loss in their last eight games.
Meanwhile, Germany secured their spot in the knockout round by earning six points in their three group-stage games. The first ended with the Eagles holding off Japan 3-2 while the second saw them go down to the Pool winners USA by the same scoreline.
However, they were far too good for Argentina in the final match of the group as they surged to a 3-0 win without conceding more than 21 points in any of the three sets.
Germany now have a record of four wins and six losses in their last 10 matches, but they did beat Les Bleus in their last encounter 3-1 in the Nations League back in June.
